Key Dates to Keep in Mind

Lost should be on around Dec. 23. So that means Christmas is coming on the island. Interesting that the new arrivals are coming at Christmas time, no? Also, Dec. 26 (known as Boxing Day) is the date of the earthquake and tsunami that ravaged through the Indian Ocean. Though the epicenter was just off the coast of Indonesia, the effects were felt all the way to the East African coast.

So riddle me this. What if these new arrivals come to the island and cause major disruption? What if the island is somewhere off Indonesia, that flight 815 was way off course, which is why no one was able to find it thus far? And what if the island is the epicenter of this earthquake? That the new arrivals and survivors leaving lead to an imbalance on the island, causing the tectonic shift? What if the guilt felt by Jack is the burden of thinking he's responsible for the death and destruction of the tsunami that marked one of the worst natural disaster in history?

Remember the Black Rock, the slave ship found on the island. Perhaps it had departed east Africa and was headed to India, Australia or another European colony in that area when it crashed. (A shipwreck, a plane crash, all on the same island? What's next? The alien spaceship Juliet joked about in the season finale?)

Incidentally, on a recent trip to Thailand, we visited some ancient ruins. At one point, a colleague pointed to the remnants of a statue and just said "Lost." It was just a foot. It was eerie and kinda fit. Maybe the island is near...
